There's a new Star Trek movie coming out that you're probably not going to see, but somehow the soundtrack to the flick is turning out to be pretty sweet, thanks to Rihanna. Earlier this week she dropped her new single for the movie, "Sledgehammer" and today she's released her full music video for the track. It takes Rihanna off earth into a different planet where she becomes the space-witch-seer she was always born to be, while a bunch of Star Trek bugs or whatever fly by. If this journey to a purpley planet wasn't enough Rihanna/Star Trek crossover for you, the movie released a video of her talking about her love for the franchise, and is essential viewing.
Most of today’s laptops are plenty portable. But HP’s latest offering proves that PC manufacturers are still finding ways to make their devices thinner and lighter still.
HP claims that its Spectre laptop, unveiled April 5, is the world’s thinnest laptop.
The Spectre measures 10.4 millimeters (0.41 inches) thick. This would mean that it’s slimmer than than the 12-inch MacBook (0.52 inches), MacBook Air (0.68 inches) and Dell XPS 13 (0.59 inches) at their thickest points. It’s also thinner than the 0.52-inch Razer Blade Stealth.
HP’s new notebook looks like a sleek, general purpose laptop, with an advertised nine-hour battery life, 13-inch HD 1920 x 1080 resolution display, and sixth generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. That last bit is particularly notable, as many super-thin laptops run on Intel’s Core M processors, optimized for mobile performance rather than desktop-like power.
The Spectre doesn’t come with any hybrid features like similar offerings from other companies, some of which include screens that can detach from their keyboards or twist and turn to function like a tablet. But the Spectre’s simplicity and premium design make it a potential competitor to Apple’s MacBook Air.
The Spectre will be available for pre-order on April 25 for $1,169.99 before it hits Best Buy stores on May 22 for $1,249.99.
They may not make it any longer, but Honda's had an Accord Wagon in its lineup several times throughout the years.
Honda
Back in 1976, a plucky little three-door hatchback appeared on the market. It was called the Honda Accord. While it was praised at the time, people weren't exactly running around, saying the car would outlast entire brands. But it has, and now we're celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Over those four decades, Honda's sold some 12.7 million Accords. Since 1982, the company's been building them in the US, something no other Japanese company could claim at the time Honda opened its Marysville, Ohio facility. To date, the automaker's produced nearly 11 million vehicles in the US for global markets. No wonder it's one of the most American cars you can buy
But it's not like the Accord's been soldiering on despite tepid reviews. If anything, the Accord's been one of the most solid cars to live this long. Car and Driver's included the Accord in its 10Best list a record 30 times, and while it might not be the most dynamically engaging car on the planet, we love it for its ability to be both fun and sensible, with the latest Model earning Roadshows praise for its Tech .
Here's a fun fact for you: The original Accord's wheelbase was smaller than the current Honda Fit's . The cars you think are small today don't hold a candle to compacts from decades past.
Frankly, there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said by me, my colleagues and every other outlet on the planet. It's a damn good car, full stop, and its 40-year anniversary is a testament to that.
